Ghislaine Maxwell only discussed divorce with her husband ahead of her July arrest with the intention to "protect" him from "being associated with her," her legal professionals wrote in a movement filed Wednesday.
Attorneys for Jeffrey Epstein's accused madam are pushing lower back towards prosecutors' claims that Maxwell gave "plainly inconsistent statements" about her relationship along with her hubby in her proposed $28.5 million bail package.
"Ms. Maxwell and her better half had discussed the thought of getting a divorce as an extra solution to get distance between [them] to offer protection to him (redacted) from the horrific consequences of being linked to her," the filing states.
The British socialite currently proposed the massive bail equipment — that represents all of her and tech CEO Scott Borgerson's assets — in a determined bid to get sprung from federal lockup.
