Stockholm, Dec eleven (IANS) Indian-American economist Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee, and his French-American wife Esther Duflo have been conferred the Nobel Prize for Economics in Sweden here, alongside their American colleague Michael Kremer.

Massachusetts Institute of technology professor Banerjee, an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru institution and the college of Calcutta, is the second grownup of Indian starting place to be awarded the prize after Amartya Sen who bought it in 1988.

he's the tenth grownup of Indian starting place or citizenship to win a Nobel.
